Lewis Carroll Through the Looking-Glass is the sequel to Lewis Carroll Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland that was first edition in 1865 that was not approved by Lewis Carroll and John Tenniel, and the first published edition for sale was issued in 1866.  This is the early edition of Lewis Carroll Through the Looking-Glass that was published by Macmillan in London in 1880.  This edition has 50 iconic Alice and other illustrations by John Tenniel.  This is the Lewis Carroll Through the Looking-Glass Second Edition published in 1880 the Forty-Seventh Thousand edition published before the third edition of Lewis Carroll Through the Looking-Glass that was published in 1887 that commenced with the Fifty-Seventh Thousand edition.  This is the rare and collectable vintage Lewis Carroll Through the Looking-Glass second edition book that was published just 8 years after the first edition book which was published in 1872.  The Lewis Carroll Through the Looking-Glass has its original red binding with gilt illustrations.  The Lewis Carroll Through the Looking-Glass front board has a three line gilt border with a John Tenniel illustration of the Red Queen in gilt, and the Lewis Carroll Through the Looking-Glass back board has a three line border with a John Tenniel illustration of the White Queen also in gilt.  The spine has the title Through the Looking Glass and the publisher’s name Macmillan with a small illustration and a three line border to the top and bottom of the spine, all of which are in gilt.
